About the 8th Pay Commission Salary Calculator

Free salary calculators for central government and railway employees — built on the official pay matrix and the latest allowance orders, not on guesswork.

This site exists for one reason: a government employee should be able to check their in-hand salary in under a minute, without a spreadsheet, a pay clerk or a rumour forwarded on a messaging group. Every tool here starts from the notified 7th CPC pay matrix, applies DA, HRA and transport allowance exactly as the Department of Expenditure orders prescribe, and shows every rupee — earnings and deductions — line by line. Start with the 8th Pay Commission Salary Calculator on our homepage or the full 7th CPC Salary Calculator.

What this site does

Government pay looks simple from the outside — a basic pay figure in an appointment letter. In practice it is a stack of moving parts: a pay matrix cell, a DA rate that changes twice a year, HRA that depends on your city class, transport allowance slabs, and deductions like NPS and CGHS that decide what actually reaches your bank account. Our calculators hold all of those parts together in one place, for the two groups that ask us most often: central government staff and railway staff.

Central government calculators

The 7th CPC Salary Calculator covers every pay level and matrix cell, with city-wise HRA, DA on TA, NPS and CGHS. Level guides such as the Level 9 Pay Scale page break one level down in full — entry pay, increments and in-hand figures for X, Y and Z cities.

Railway salary calculators

Railway pay has its own allowances — night duty, running allowances, risk and hardship. Our dedicated tools for the Station Master, Group D and TTTE cadres build those in, instead of forcing railway staff through a generic calculator.

DA and arrears tools

The DA Calculator tracks the official dearness allowance rate — 60% from 1 January 2026 — and works out arrears whenever a revision is announced with retrospective effect, so you can check the lump sum before it appears in your slip.

How the calculators work

Every figure on this site is produced by a published rule, applied the same way a pay section would apply it. Nothing is typed in from a news article and nothing is estimated quietly.

  • The pay matrix comes first. Basic pay is read from the official 7th CPC pay matrix — each cell is the previous cell × 1.03, rounded to the nearest ₹100, starting from the notified entry pay of the level.
  • DA follows the latest DoE order only. The calculators default to the last officially announced rate — 60% from 1 January 2026. Expected or rumoured rates are never pre-filled; when a new order is issued, we update the default and note the change.
  • HRA and TA use the notified slabs. HRA at 30% / 20% / 10% for X / Y / Z cities (with the ₹5,400 / ₹3,600 / ₹1,800 minimums), transport allowance by level and city, plus DA on TA at the same DA rate.
  • Deductions are shown, not hidden. NPS at 10% of basic + DA (with the 14% government contribution shown for information) and CGHS by pay-level band — so the in-hand figure is honest, not flattering.
  • Everything runs in your browser. The calculations happen on your device. We do not see, store or transmit the salary details you enter.

The 8th Pay Commission: projections, clearly labelled

Please read every 8th CPC number on this site as an estimate. The 8th Central Pay Commission was constituted on 3 November 2025 and its report is expected around May 2027. It has issued no recommendations, and no 8th CPC pay scale has been implemented or notified.

Where our pages show 8th CPC figures — projected fitment, sample in-hand salaries, possible arrears — they are worked examples built on stated assumptions, so you can plan and compare scenarios. They are clearly labelled “projection” or “estimate” wherever they appear. When the Commission reports and the government notifies the revised pay, this section — and every affected calculator — will be rebuilt on the official orders.

Our accuracy promise — and how corrections work

Pay rules change through official orders, and a website that does not keep up becomes misinformation. Our promise is simple: every rate on this site carries a “verified on” date, every page states the orders it is built on, and when a new DA order, allowance revision or corrigendum appears, the affected pages are corrected and the change is noted on the page itself.

If you spot a figure you believe is wrong, we genuinely want to know. Send us the page, the figure and — most valuable of all — the official order or circular reference through our Contact page. Verified corrections are fixed first, before any other work, and the corrected page records what changed.

What this site is not

To be completely clear: this is a private, independent information website. It is not a government website, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Ministry of Finance, the Department of Expenditure, the Railway Board, any railway zone, or any pay commission. The calculators produce estimates from published rules — they cannot fix your pay, settle an arrears claim or override your office. For anything that affects your actual salary, your pay slip and your DDO / pay and accounts office are the final authority, and official orders should always be read on doe.gov.in and pib.gov.in.
